The SON Foundation Future Leaders Scholars Program
Helping scholars learn, lead, and serve.
The Sekinat Onasanya (SON) Foundation is a Nigerian educational nonprofit dedicated to scholar development through educational support, mentorship, leadership development, character development, opportunity readiness, and service.
A registered Nigerian nonprofit · Incorporated Trustees, Corporate Affairs Commission · IT 9707713
The Foundation identifies academically promising SS1 and SS2 students in Nigerian public secondary schools and stays with them — practical support for school-related needs, a trained mentor beside them, leadership practised in real school projects, and a path prepared towards what comes next.
A life of helping people move forward
Inspired by service
that felt personal.
The Foundation draws its purpose from Mrs Sekinat Onasanya’s example of practical care: noticing people, encouraging them, and helping them take the next step with dignity.
That spirit shapes the Programme today. Scholars are treated as young people with promise, responsibility, and a future worth preparing for carefully.

The Future Leaders
Scholars Program.
The Foundation’s public work begins with one focused Programme for students in Nigerian public secondary schools. The Pilot is designed for one Lagos public secondary school and up to ten SS1 and SS2 Scholars. Scholars receive practical support for school-related needs, attend one Academy Session each month during term time, meet Mentors twice each month, build Scholar Portfolios, practise leadership, and contribute to their school community.
Educational Support
Scholars receive practical support for school-related needs so financial pressure does not quietly push learning out of reach.
Mentorship
Each scholar belongs to a small mentor group. Mentors meet scholars twice each month, help them reflect, and keep clear safeguarding boundaries.
Leadership Development
Monthly Academy Sessions build communication, reading culture, critical thinking, responsibility, and values-led leadership.
School Impact
Scholars serve their school through reading campaigns, peer support, career awareness activities, and projects approved with school leadership.
Future Opportunities
Scholars build portfolios, prepare applications, practise interviews, and learn to recognise pathways that fit their stage of life.
Start small. Support each scholar well. Learn honestly before growing.

see and explain.

Every scholar should be seen, guided, challenged, and treated with dignity.
